Emo Two

I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
Oh god it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever
Feels like home sitting all alone inside your head

How do you feel? That is the question
But i forget.. you don't expect and easy answer
When something like a soul becomes
Initialized and folded up like paper dolls and little notes
You cant expect a bit of hope
And while you're outside looking in
Describing what you see
Remember what you're staring at is me.

Lullabye

In a room shrouded in darkness, where the only source of light comes from the flat screen of your computer; where the only sounds you hear are the humming of the neighbor's AC and the exhaust fan attached to your room's ceiling; when your thoughts turn Emo and you feel like telling your dreams and frustrations to the person next to you; the best way to invigorate the mood is to play soft music.

While others prefer jazz or ambient sounds to let go of their inhibitions, I rely on acoustic rock music to free my soul. It works in overnight drinking sessions with friends, often resulting to a much stronger bond when the alcohol has been drained from everyone's system. On many occasions, my music preference cracks even the toughest shell, like when the one I'd like to open up is a guy who rarely speaks about his feelings even to friends.

Here are five Pinoy Alternative songs that I would play when my mood turns blue. The melody and lyrics of these songs enable me to go to places and scenes without leaving the comforts of my chair. It doesn't matter if a companion is present during a sound trip or not, for what is essential is the freedom to expose one's soft spots just when everything in the world slows down to a trickle in moments between midnight and daybreak.

05. ESEM, Yano.
Imagine yourself walking at Trinoma with an empty wallet and pockets deep without coins and most probably you would hear this song played inside your head. A true classic, this song has its timely appeal now that everyone suffers from economic hardships. This song never fails to open my eyes to the pains of being a below-minumum wage earner who seeks a moment's distraction in a place where even happiness commands a price.

04. NOCTURNE, Spongecola
Sleep is a luxury an insomniac can hardly afford. This song is not about insomniacs, but is about sleeplessness in times of infatuation. Admit it or not, we have our fair share of sleep deprivation when we're in love. Though it's been ages since someone caused me such sleeplessness, Nocturne lets me remember those nights when I'd roll and twist on my bed, roosters having a concerto of crows outside my window, and the early dawn sky turning pitch black to misty blue.

03. AKO'Y IYO AT IKA'Y AKIN, I/Axe
Another timeless classic. I first heard this song back in high school. In college, we sang it when everyone's dead drunk and starts talking about their frustrations in relationship. In those days when puppy love was still in, and being turned down by a crush was as normal as cutting classes every week, this song never fails to make me remember that once in my life, I fell in love with girls.

02. FILL HER, Eraserheads
The song evokes a sense of tranquility only Ely Buendia can transform into music with his voice. Whenever Fill Her plays on my player, I picture myself lying under a big Mango tree on a quiet weekend afternoon. Next to me is my buddy, with his head on my chest singing these lines "when I get near all my fears disappear and I wont be alone anymore." to me.

01. LSS, Stonefree
If given a chance to pick a song in a KTV bar, there is no doubt that I'd choose LSS as my encore performance. Despite its cheesy lyrics and repetitive guitar rifts and drum beats, what draws me to this song is the powerful vocals that expressed a full range of emotions of the singer. The song talks about a post gig scene. As everyone packs up after a successful performance, we find the main character (which is the band vocalist) sour graping for not seeing his special someone at the gig. One might find such excuse a bit shallow, but what made this song different is that instead of the main character joining his group to celebrate their victory elsewhere, he chooses to head home to be with that someone he wishes to see at the gig.

When Joms Talks of American Idol

I admitted a few entries ago that I am never a Mariah Carey fan.

And I admitted to Tripper a few inuman sessions ago that the subject American Idol will make me fall asleep. I just can't relate to it, especially when people around me starts talking about David Archuleta and how gay his performance is.

However, when an aspiring rockstar who is a contestant in American Idol suddenly performs a cover of a Mariah song.

Then and only then did the reality show got my attention.

It isn't my idea to write an entry about American Idol. But Makmak's well-written review about the Mariah Carey Week that was held some days ago suddenly caught my interest. I began reading the entire entry and for the first time, I related to what my other PLU friends were talking about during our little Saturday get-together.

The last time I've heard about David Cook was through Dodong. He said that he's one of his bet this season. That was all he said and then we proceeded to talk about another topic. But when Makmak wrote that among the idols, he took the greatest risk by doing a cover version of Always Be My Baby and got away with it, I immediately went to YouTube to see what Cook exactly did.

In fairness, I was stunned by his performance.

Because if he sucked, I won't write an entry about him.

Cook's version indeed reminded me of the song I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing by Aerosmith. The guitar intro was a dead giveaway that the performer is a rock artist. The harmonic accompaniment, especially the violin orchestra made the entire performance appear smooth and dramatic. Finally, the three back-up female singers, who's crucial importance allowed Cook to build up his voice for a final climax also served as a dampener to Cook's powerful vocals.

Jericho once made a comment asking me the songs I would like to make birit if given a chance to sing a song. I replied in his comment that the only songs I'd be able to sing should at least be in the same vocal range like those of Alex Band of The Calling.

But if I was gifted with a stronger vocal chords like those of David Cook's. I wouldn't mind making a birit like what he did. It was so impressive, that for a YouTube second, I was drawn not only to Mariah Carey, but to American Idol as well.

J-Pop

I've always known myself as a crepuscular* person. I appreciate images and art that are nocturne in substance and nature.

One striking music video that perfectly captures the world I would love to thrive in comes from Utada Hikaru. Entitled "Final Distance" this very sad ballad was dedicated to a schoolgirl named Rena Yamashita, who was stabbed savagely in a school rampage at an elementary school in Osaka. Rena had previously won an essay competition writing about how she wanted to become a singer like Utada.

The video was first shown on Channel V some nine years ago. In that span of time up to now, the scenes never left my head completely.

crepuscular - of, relating to, or resembling twilight

In Denial

Demon
Guster

My words confuse you
My eyes don't move a blink
Cause it's easier sometimes
Not to be sincere
Somehow I make you believe
Believe

When I speak I'll cross my fingers
Will you know you've been deceived?
I find a need to be the demon
A demon cannot be hurt

Honest is easy
Fiction's where genius lies
Cause it's easier sometimes
Not to be involved
Somehow I'll make you believe
Believe

When I speak I'll cross my fingers
Will you know you’ve been deceived?
I find a need to be the demon
A demon cannot be hurt

Kim - Siong (Final Episode)

Dream Theater
Regression

Scenes from Kim - Siong and Beyond

Hypnotherapist:

Close your eyes and begin to relax.
Take a deep breath, and let it out slowly.
Concentrate on your breathing.
With each breath you become more relaxed.
Imagine a brilliant white light above you.
Focus in on this light as it flows through your body.
Allow yourself to drift off as you fall deeper
and deeper into a more relaxed state of mind.

Now, as I count back from ten to one,
you will feel more peaceful and calm.

Ten. Nine. Eight. Seven. Six.

You will enter a safe place where nothing can harm you.

Five. Four. Three. Two.

If at any time you need to come back,
all you must do is open your eyes.

One.

Singer:

Safe in the light that surrounds me,
Free of the fear and the pain,
My subconscious mind starts spinning though time
To rejoin the past once again.

Nothing seems real, I'm starting to feel
Lost in the haze of a dream.
And as I draw near, the scene becomes clear,
Like watching my life on a screen.

Hello, Lilibeth.
So glad to see you, my friend.

Instant Give Away

Friend: Marami.

Joms: Like what?

For example, trip ko mag club music. Same thing is true sakaling patugtugin ko ang Absolutely, Joyrise at Hung Up ni Madonna kasunod nito.

"Puta pare, I hear a gay boy nearby," siguradong comment ng kapitbahay.

1. Madonna
2. Mariah Carey
3. Britney Spears
4. Regine Velasquez
5. Kyla/Nina
6. Christina Aguilera
7. Beyonce Knowles
8. Leah Salonga
9. Lani Misalucha
10. American Idol Singers
11. Celine Dion
12. Whitney Houston
13. Westlife
14. Kelly Clarkson
15. Boybands

---

Trivial Facts

See Stonewall Riots.

These Are The Times Its Better To Be Dead

For Joms:

How To Be Dead
Snow Patrol

Please don't go crazy, if I tell you the truth
No you don't know what happened
And you never will if
You don't listen to me while I talk to the wall
This blanket is freezing, it's been out in the hall
Where you've had me for hours
Till I'm sure what I want
But darling I want the same thing that I wanted before
So sweetheart tell me what's up I won't stop no way

Please keep your hands down
And stop raising your voice
It's hardly what I'd be doing if you gave me a choice
It's a simple suggestion can you give me sometime
So just say yes or no
Why can't you shoulder the blame
Coz both my shoulders are heavy
From the weight of us both
You're a big boy now so let's not talk about growth
You've not heard a single word I have said...
Oh, my God

Please take it easy it can't all be my fault
I haven't made half the mistakes
That you've listed so far
Oh baby let me explain something
It's all down to drugs
At least I remember taking them and not a lot else
It seems I've stepped over lines
You've drawn again and again
But if the ecstacy's in the wit is definitely out
Dr. Jekyll is wrestling Hyde for my pride

I hope that someday you can tell Pulsar everything about it...

Tamang Senti Lang

Nakakabwisit minsan.

Green Day
Wake Me Up When September Ends

Summer has come and passed,
the innocent can never last.
Wake me up when September ends.
Like my fathers come to pass,
seven years has gone so fast.

Wake me up when September ends.

Here comes the rain again,
falling from the stars.
Drenched in my pain again,
becoming who we are.
As my memory rests,
but never forgets what I lost.

Wake me up when September ends.

Summer has come to pass,
the innocent can never last.
Wake me up when September ends.
Ring out the bells again,
like we did when Spring began.

Wake me up when September ends.

Here comes the rain again,
falling from the stars.
Drenched in my pain again,
becoming who we are.
As my memory rests,
but never forgets what I lost.

Wake me up when September ends.

Summer has come to pass,
the innocent can never last.
Wake me up when September ends.

Like my fathers come to pass,
twenty years has gone so fast.
Wake me up when September ends.
Wake me up when September ends.
Wake me up when September ends.

Quotable Lyrics

Some of them may not be my most favorite lines, but somehow this is what I feel for the past two days creating this entry. Thanks McVie for creating this entry in your blog.

Lyrics that best describe my feelings at this moment

There is a diamond inside of me that lights up the sky of my soul

Paula Cole and Dolly Parton - Heart Door, Sweet November Soundtrack

So I would cry a thousand more if that's what it takes to sail you home.

Tori Amos - 1000 Oceans

And just before
she hangs her head to cry
I sing to her a lullaby

Shawn Mullins - Lullabye

Honest is easy
Fiction's where genius lies
Cause it's easier sometimes
Not to be involved
Somehow I'll make you believe

Guster - Demons

And I am not afraid to try it on my own
I don't care if I'm right or wrong
I'll live my life the way I feel
No matter what I'll keep it real you know
Time for me to do it on my own

Whitney Houston - Try It On My Own, Thunderpuss Remix

I've been trying to get to your heart but I'm chasing shadows
We keep falling further apart
so near and you're so far

Cher - All or Nothing

The street heats the urgency of now
As you see there's no one around

Smashing Pumpkins - 1979

I'm taking the long way home
Whatever may come and go
Just like the boy
Trying to give it away
I regret tomorrow more than yesterday

ATB - Long Way Home

They paved paradise and put up a parking lot

Counting Crows - Big Yellow Taxi

I hope your hell is filled with magazines
And on every page you see a big picture of me
And under every picture the caption should read
Not bad for a girl from the gutter like me

Kina - Girl From The Gutter

You grew up way too fast
Now there's nothing to believe
And re-runs all become our history
A tired song keeps playin on a tired radio
And I won't tell no one your name...

Goo Goo Dolls - Name

Oh, I really should have known
By the time you drove me home
By the vagueness in your eyes
Casual good-byes
By the chill in your embrace
The expression on your face

Jann Arden - Insensitive

Esem

Yano

Patingin-tingin, di naman makabili
Patingin-tingin, di makapanood ng sine
Walang ibang pera kundi pamasahe

Kailangang magsaya, kailangang magpahangin.

CHORUS:
Nakakainip ang ganitong buhay
Nakakainis ang ganitong buhay
Nakakainip ang ganitong buhay
Nakakainis ang ganitong buhay

Repeat Chorus

Repeat Chorus

Nakakabaliw ang ganitong buhay
Di nakakaaliw ang ganitong buhay.
(Repeat 2x)

I was in Makati yesterday afternoon to send my resume to different companies. After sending those papers, I went to Glorietta to buy my mom's medicine. Since the compounding process would take 30 minutes, I decided to buy a cigarette near the Ayala MRT Station. Then I've realized that before, 50 bucks is nothing compared to what I can withdraw in my ATM Account, yesterday, 50 bucks was my only lifeline in Makati. Then this song just came to my mind...

Pangga

Parokya Ni Edgar
One and Only

It took one look
Then forever lay out in front of me
One smile then I died
Only to be revived by you
There I was thought I had everything
Figured out, goes to show
Just how much i know
'Bout the way life,place out

Chorus:

I take one step away
Then I'll find myself
Coming back to you
My one and only one and
Only you

Verse 2:

Now i know that i know
Not a thing that I know
Except the fact that i'm yours
And that you are mine

Oh...,that you told me that
This wouldn't be easy
And no,i'm not one
To complain

Chorus

---

Para sa isang taon nating pagsasama
sa lungkot at ligaya. Ikaw lamang na pinakamamahal
at nagpaliwanag sa aking buhay,
maraming salamat sa pagmamahal
at pagkakaibigan na ipinakita
at ipinaramdam mo sa akin.

Happy Anniversary Pangga.
Mahal na mahal kita.

Ba't Ako Tinamaan Dun

3 Doors Down
Here Without You

A hundred days have made me older
since the last time that I saw your pretty face.
A thousand lies have made me colder
and I don't think I can look at this the same.
And all the miles that seperate
disappear now when I'm dreamin' of your face.

I'm here without you baby
but you're still on my lonely mind.
I think about you baby
and I dream about you all the time.
I'm here without you baby
but you're still with me in my dreams.
And tonight, it's only you and me.

The miles just keep rollin'
as the people leave their way to say hello.
I've heard this life is overrated
but I hope that it gets better as we go.

I'm here without you baby
but you're still on my lonely mind.
I think about you baby
and I dream about you all the time.
I'm here without you baby
but you're still with me in my dreams.
And tonight girl, it's only you and me.

And everything I know, and anywhere I go
It gets hard but it won't take away my love.
And when the last one falls, and when it's all said and done
It gets hard but it won't take away my love.

I'm here without you baby
but you're still on my lonely mind
I think about you baby
and i dream about you all the time
I'm here without you baby
but you're still with me in my dreams
And tonight girl, it's only you and me.

I just hope that your feelings are true. It's so so sad to know that such fleeting feelings lasts only for a moment.

Para Sayo

Like what I've said... I know how you feel. Everytime I read your entries - trying to fight what you feel, everytime we talked about your dilemma, everytime I see you, this song always reminded me of the things that you are dealing right now.

Dedicate ko sayo to pare.

6 Cycle Mind
Paba

Stellar Attraction

This song is dedicated to those who love secretly, love someone who is currently attached, and those who love but may never be loved in return...

What It Is To Burn
Finch

(S)he burns

Today's on fire
The sky is bleeding above me, and I am blistered
I walk these lines of blasphemy, every day
And still

Like a bad star, I'm falling faster down to him (her)
(S)he's the only one who knows, what it is to burn

I feel diseased
Is there no sympathy from the sun?
The sky's still fire
But I am safe in here, from the world outside

So tell me
What's the price to pay for glory?

Like a bad star, I'm falling faster down to him (her)
(S)he's the only one who knows, what it is to burn

Today is fire, and (s)he burns
Today is fire, and (s)he burns
(S)he burns
(S)he burns
(S)he burns
(S)he burns
(S)he burns
(S)he burns

Like a bad star, I'm falling faster down to him(her)
(S)he's the only one who knows, what it is to burn

No... I am stronger than my mind thinks. I will never falter. I will not allow myself to do so...
