We just got home.
The supposed to be contract signing between the new "partner" and us didn't push through. As our lawyer had suggested, there are words in the contract that should be rephrased. There was also this eksena moment when my aunt failed to contain her feelings, which she later bursted into tears.
I never thought that business negotiations are this complicated. I have always envisioned this one as a signing full of hopes and pleasantries.

We were caught off-guard when the partner had stipulated in the document that he is actually buying the name of the newspaper. Even I, who was usually apathetic and supportive of this merging had felt a jolt when I read the document.
Sabagay, we were given warnings before that having a partner would be a real pain in the ass. I knew its implications before we have even set a meeting with him.
But what is our choice? We don't have the necessary financial and political will to continue such endeavors - and our partner is the one who have those two things.
I even heard some rumors that we sold everything to the devil just to get out of the problems my dad has left... but never did they realize that we surrendered ourselves, our dignity so that they might have a chance of going on...
Even at the cost of our own shadows.

Tired and exhausted, we have decided to set the signing on Wednesday so that the lawyers could get over and revise the document.
As for me, I am planning to go out tonight probably to mingle with the gay people in Malate, perhaps to celebrate the certainty that I would not have to shed my own personal money so that the business could operate.
At the same time, I would like to drown myself in beer, to grieve for our lost and influence now that a deal will have to be closed.
This is a two-way world indeed.
And this is our only logical choice.
